Hello, I am Christopher Bowring, third-year historian and Ccptain of the Trinity shooting team. Trinity is most certainly the most successful college shooting team, winning great glory as a team in Cuppers and individually in University Varsity matches and national competitions. This year, Alexis de Vivenot won the T-class trophy for the Alexandra match, while I myself won the Armed Forces match. So if you like winning shiny things then this is the right place for you! The Trinity team exists under the auspices of the university clubs CURA (Cambridge University Rifle Association) and CUSBC (Cambridge University Small-Bore Club). But don't let such acronyms put you off, as anyone, no matter their level of experience, can join! With training on both Mondays and Fridays with the university club (and Trinity funding), shooters at Trinity are well poised for success. Attendance on both days is not mandatory so do not worry about it taking up too much time. With CURA and CUSBC we also find the social aspect to the club; we run a weekly social in the Hawks Club, which is always an interesting night... CUSBC and CURA shoot two disciplines, .22 small-bore at 25 yards during Michaelmas and Lent, and .308 full-bore at 300-1200 yards (far more exciting) during Easter and the Summer (though there are some opportunities to do a bit before). This will therefore be the bread and butter of shooting at Trinity as well. But, if enough people are keen, I am happy to put on some clays shooting or even black power muskets.
